Daily Activities

How we spend our day

We believe that children learn best when they have many opportunities to make choices; when their efforts to do things are permitted and encouraged; and when they are free to explore a physical and social world with which they are increasingly able to cope.

Each day, their choices include the following:

  • Spacious outdoor play area including tricycle trails, climbing structures, a playhouse, swings, sand area, and animals to feed and love.
  • Inside and outside art activities for creativity and three-dimensional design.
  • Music equipment, including records, games, puppet theater and Orff-Schulwerk and other musical instruments.
  • Science materials to explore the different senses and to discover the wonders of nature, including a garden to plant and till.
  • Pretend and actual kitchens for young cooks to smell, taste, and prepare nutritious snacks for hungry friends.
  • Books, letters, puzzles and manipulative toys for pondering and playing.
  • Blocks, dress-up and housekeeping areas for endless dramatic and role playing adventures.

 

Schedule for 2-Day Class

  • 9:00 - 9:15 Children arrive at school
  • 9:15 Rug time
  • 9:30 Start Daily Activities
  • 10:15 Small group time (stories, show & tell)
  • 10:30 Wash hands. Snack outside. Children serve.
  • 10:45 Resume activities
  • 11:30 Clean-up time.
  • 11:40 Large group time
  • 12:00 Parents pick up children

Schedule for 3-Day Class*

  • 9:00 - 9:15 Children arrive at school
  • 9:15 Rug time
  • 9:30 Free choice activity time. Small group time begins with professional staff.
  • 10:20 Story time.
  • 10:30 Snack.
  • 10:45 Continue daily activity
  • 11:30 Clean-up time.
  • 11:40 Large group time
  • 12:00 Parents pick up children

* 3-Day Class - This is the schedule for Monday & Wednesday - there are small variation on Fridays. 2nd semester changes slightly to prepare for kindergarten.

Extracurricular Activities

Extra-curricular activities are offered for an additional fee throughout the year. These programs help to foster the development of positive self-esteem. Past activities have included gymnastics, music, soccer, ice skating and tennis, among others.

Special programs are also held at school, such as Snow Day, Camp-Out & Barbecue, and Dad's Day.
