Active parent participation is the foundation of Palos Verdes Hills Nursery School. We have found that the success of a parent participation nursery school depends directly upon the time and contributions offered by every family in the school. Through various social activities held throughout the year, a strong sense of community and school spirit is ever present.
Parent Requirements
Upon enrollment, each member is given a detailed handbook outlining the specific areas of cooperation and the following basic requirements:
Participation Area | Description |

Teaching Days (2x/month) | A parent is required to teach a minimum of 15 days; no siblings permitted |
Monthly Meetings (1 family representative) | Either a General Meeting* or Teacher/Parent Meeting** will be held monthly in the evening on the 3rd Thursday (Held in person or via Zoom) |
Service Hours (Approximately 16 total hours) | Fulfilled through participation as a Board Member, being a part of a committee or holding a coordinating position |
Beautification Days (2 hours each) | Three times a year on Saturdays, our community of parents come together to clean and beautify our school |
Financial | Paying tuition dues and supporting fundraising efforts |
*Once a year at a General meeting, the school hosts a guest speaker on a current topic in child development.
**Teaching Parent Meetings provide the opportunity for parents and teachers to discuss skills for more mindful & effective adult-child interactions.
