Palos Verdes Hills Nursery School is a parent participation school founded in 1953 and established at its present site in 1958. This unique cooperative institution is owned and administered by participating parents who desire greater involvement in their children’s first school experience. Our school is based on the idea that the best education for a child is the active partnership of parents, teachers and children.

PV Hills is a nonprofit corporation and is governed by the general membership through an elected parent-run Board of Directors. The school is supported by tax-deductible donations from the Palos Verdes Peninsula Directory and PVLifeToday.com. These donations support the educational activities for our students.

Philosophy

The first five years of a child’s life are important! It is critical for parents to take an active role to ensure a lifelong thirst for learning.

At Palos Verdes Hills Nursery School:

Both the child and parent grow and foster new friendships in an enriching environment.
We emphasize the development of self-confidence.
Children learn to express their feelings.
Children learn to make their own decisions within safe, comfortable limits.
